Christian Aid Week 2025

TOGETHER WE CAN BEAT EXTREME POVERTY

For 80 years, Christian Aid has been fighting poverty and injustice. With the generous backing of churches like ours, support has been offered to communities in crisis. Over eight decades, CA has harnessed something formidable: the unstoppable power of hope. Right now, that hope is needed more than ever.

Christian Aid has always been well supported by the congregations of Cumbernauld Old, Kildrum and St Mungo’s and our hope is that this year, our first Christian Aid Week as Cumbernauld Trinity, we will raise a considerable amount of money to support the people of Guatemala.

So, to that end, we plan to hold a Christian Aid Coffee Morning at the St Mungo’s Hub on Saturday 10th May from 10am until noon. Please put this date in your diary and come and support this most worthwhile of causes.

To make this event successful, help is needed! We need people to help run the Coffee Morning on the 10th, and we need as many bakers as possible to…bake! We also plan to have a Silent Auction (where basically you state how much you are prepared to give for a certain item, and the leading bid ‘wins’) To this end, we are looking for unwanted, brand new gifts to auction. Please have a rummage and see if you have anything you could donate.

The familiar red Christian Aid envelopes will be available for donations in Trinity Parish Church, the Village and also at the Café Church in St Mungo’s Hub on the Sundays which bookend Christian Aid Week, which this year runs from 11th - 17th May.

And finally, the annual Christian Aid appeal is spearheaded by Lesley Littlejohn and Liz Dalling, but we really would appreciate a few more people becoming involved. There are no longer door-to door collections, but we need help to count the donated money and also just find new ways of supporting the work of CA. it is not too onerous!

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Coffee Morning on the 10th of May.
