Christian Aid Week update

There were three elements to this year’s fundraising effort in support of Christian Aid: donation envelopes, the quiz and the inaugural Cumbernauld Trinity Christian Aid Ramble!

The response from members of the congregation - and their family and friends - was wonderful and a significant amount of money was raised.

There were boxes of quizzes located throughout the Village and we would like to thank Jim Dickson jnr, Rory Stewart of Stewart Dental Care, Margaret from Café Scozzese, Wasay from The Village Pharmacy and Moira from the Library in the Town Centre for supporting Cumbernauld Trinity and Christian Aid by taking boxes.

The Ramble on the 30th of May was a great success. 28 people, including children and toddlers – and two dogs - walked from the site of St Mungo’s down to the Village; it was an afternoon of fellowship as well as fund-raising. Thanks are due to the experienced Ramblers in the congregation - Anne Murphy, Ivar Struthers, and Thora Barron – who made sure everything was in order and that everyone was safe.

A significant donation of £200 was added to the total by the Fair-Trade Group. When goods are purchased on Fair-Trade Sundays, many people donate their change… and it all mounts up. The regular donations for tea and coffee at the end of every service are also included.

The featured country for this year’s Christian Aid Week was Kenya, and we invited our younger members to participate by colouring-in an African elephant. You can see some of their efforts below. Thanks and well done to them too!

Finally, to everyone who filled a red envelope – and completed the Gift Aid slip - thank you for your continuing support of this most worthwhile cause.

The total raised across all our events and activities was £1467.25, and Gift Aid will add an additional £208.55 to that total. So thank you, everyone, once again!
