A project manager and a firm of architects have been appointed and over the next few weeks, contractors will be on and around the site of the former St Mungo's Church to carry out survey work in preparation for a new building for Cumbernauld Trinity. We'll issue further updates as our plans progress.
Latest Update - 1st September 2026
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Service of Remembrance and Hope on Sunday 2nd August, on the first anniversary of the St Mungo’s fire. A particularly significant moment in the Service was the reaffirmation of our plans to build a new church on the site.
Signage was placed on the site fencing ahead of the Service to keep the local community informed, with further signage to be added in due course. This will include a link to a dedicated section of the church website, providing updates on the new build, as well as information about Cumbernauld Trinity, our worship and services, and opportunities to get involved in the life of the church.
We look forward to creating a building that will be far more than a place of worship – a welcoming centre for the whole community and a beacon of Christ’s love, hope and grace in the heart of Cumbernauld. Our hope is to bring the wider community with us on this journey, helping people to feel informed, involved and excited about what lies ahead.
Over the summer, the New Build Group has continued to make steady progress behind the scenes. We have met with several professional firms regarding the appointment of a Project Manager and Architect and hope to finalise these appointments in the coming weeks. As with any project of this scale, there are several processes, challenges and detailed steps to work through, and we are taking the time to ensure that each stage is approached carefully and properly.

Share your skills and experience – if you have experience in areas such as construction, finance or project management, we may draw on this expertise as the project develops.
Look out for future updates – as the project progresses, there will be more specific opportunities for members of the congregation and wider community to contribute.
