What’s happening at Cumbernauld Trinity?

Next Sunday’s Worship

Our morning worship service on Sunday 4th October will take place at 11.00am in the Village church, Baronhill, and our Cafe Church service will be at 2.30pm in Freedom City Church, St Mungo’s Road. Both services will be led by Rev James Gemmell.

Our morning service will be preceded by a short time of prayer from 10.30am until 10.45am in the Laird's Loft, upstairs at the Village church.

We will be holding our annual Harvest Appeal at our services this Sunday and invite those attending to bring along donations of tins, jars and packets of foods, toiletries and cleaning items for distribution through our local food bank in the Village or at Bethlehem House of Bread at Cornerstone. A wee treat such as jam, biscuits or savouries would also be appreciated. Thank-you!

Vestry Time
Every Wednesday from 10.00am until 12 noon the Rev James Gemmell will be available in the Session House at the Village church for anyone who would like to speak to the minister.

Care for a Cuppa
Everyone is welcome at Care for a Cuppa every Thursday from 10.30 - 12.30 in the Session House at Cumbernauld Trinity in the Village.

For those in need, food bags will still be available as before, but we hope some visitors will feel able to simply join us for a cuppa and a chat.

Mission and Discipleship
We have arranged a meeting with Dr Isaac Hongsuk Um, the Mission Co-ordinator for Glasgow Presbytery, on Wednesday 30th September at 7pm in the Village church. This is open to everyone and will be an opportunity for us to think about mission and discipleship and how Cumbernauld Trinity can best do it.

Pastoral Care
Our Pastoral Care group is now up and running, so if anyone wants a visit or hasn’t seen a member of our congregation in a while, please speak to the Pastoral Care group for follow-up. The group members are Janice Gordon, Jennifer Mearns, Nan McCabe, Annette Campbell, Christine Johnstone, Liz Dalling, Sandra Graham, and James Gemmell. The pastoral care group will work alongside the Elders districts, which will be phased out over time.

A few Thank-you’s
Firstly, a big 'Thank-You' to those who supported our sale of jam, marmalade, and home baking at our services on Sunday 20th September. We are delighted to report that £275 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support, with a further £40 raised through Gift-Aid 💚💚.

Thank you, too, to everyone who took part in our worship services on Sunday 27th September when, as part of Fairtrade Fortnight we recognised our church’s ongoing commitment to Fairtrade.

Heritage Evening
The first of a new series of musical heritage evenings by Anam Alba and organised by Siobhan, Fiona, and Frankie will be hosted by Cumbernauld Trinity on Friday 9th October at 7pm. Taking place in the Village church, the theme will explore the ‘Changing Seasons’ though Scottish poems, songs and music. No tickets needed. Tea and coffee will be served and entry is will be by voluntary donation.

Cumbernauld Living Landscape
Cumbernauld Trinity will be represented at an autumn activity day organised by Cumbernauld Living Landscape on Saturday 10th October in the Langriggs in the Village.. The event will run from from 12 until 4pm to celebrate the changing seasons and will include a nature walk, a scything demonstration, bulb planting, scavenger hunt, music and storytelling, and even toasted marshmallows.
There will also be a guided tour of the Village church led by Jim Walker at 2pm, and at 6 o'clock there will be a Bat Walk, starting from the Langriggs.
The church and the Reaching Out Group will be participating in this community event by having some art and craft activities from 12 until 2pm, also in the Langriggs. We’re hoping to have our new church pop-up banner ready for next week, so it can be on display.
